An Evening That Made More Possible:
Recapping the 2026 Authors & Illustrators Gala
Thirty-five years ago, the FVRL Foundation hosted its first fundraising dinner. Last night, we celebrated how far that one evening has taken us.
The 2026 Authors & Illustrators Gala brought together over 700 supporters to the Hilton Vancouver for an evening of storytelling, community, and generosity that marked the Foundation’s 35th anniversary in the most fitting way imaginable — by making more possible for the libraries and communities we love.
This year’s featured guest, author and illustrator Amy Tan, captivated the room with an intimate look at her life, her work, and the unexpected joy of The Backyard Bird Chronicles. Her presence was a reminder of what this event has always been at its heart: a gathering of people who believe in the power of stories, and who show up every year to support the libraries that make those stories accessible to everyone.
The evening raised over $370,000— funds that will support FVRLibraries and the communities it serves.
None of it happens without you. The donors, sponsors, Friends of the Library volunteers, and community partners who fill this room each year are the reason the Foundation can do what it does — fund the programs, the projects, and the possibilities that make Fort Vancouver Regional Library District extraordinary.
Thirty-five years of Authors & Illustrators. Thirty-five years of community showing up. Thirty-five years of making more possible.
Thank you for being part of it. We’ll see you next year.
