    Shorty’s Oktoberfest is back – it’s new – it’s different – it’s fun – it’s a traditional German-style Oktoberfest

    Shorty’s Wiesn” – pronounced /veezn/, meaning meadow

    Shorty’s new Oktoberfest is named after the “Wiesn”, the traditional grounds of the Munich Oktoberfest.

    Event Schedule

    Doors open at 11am

    Noon: Opening of the event with the ceremonial tapping of the first keg by our Special Guest, Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle! Followed by a silent auction of her famous Apple Strudel.

    12pm – 2pm: The Happy Wanderers, Steve Knapke and John Martin

    Steve Knapke retired from the U.S. Navy in 1999 after serving for 23 years. He had not played the accordion for over 40 years, relearned and joined the Rose City Accordion Club and eventually became their president. He performs at various venues and Oktoberfest celebrations (Mount Angel, Ridgefield, Washougal). After retiring, John Martin became an active performer at Oktoberfests and other musical events.

    2:30pm – 4:00 pm: Battle Ground High School Jazz Combo Band

    4:30pm – 6:30pm: Encore Brass, 13 members of a local brass ensemble

    Encore Brass began in fall of 1978 as quintet. In general instrumentation is 4 trumpets, 3 French horns, 3 trombones, 2 euphoniums, tuba and percussion. Besides the chance to play an extensive range of brass music, the group is dedicated to having fun! Repertoire performed includes classical transcriptions, brass band music, jazz arrangements, Christmas music, pop and Americana pieces, and German waltzes and polkas in the fall for Oktoberfest.

    7pm – 8pm: The Wildish

    This young 6 member band started in Bellingham, WA and then migrated to the Portland Oregon area. They play a mix of alternative rock with funk, folk and classics influences! They’ll get you off your seats and start dancing!

    8pm – 11pm: Justin Sheehy and the Over Easy (members from Lucky Town, Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band)
