Becky Rude is a longtime lover of libraries. She has fond memories of summer reading programs and the wonderful sound of the card machine stamping the return date for her checked-out books.

Becky grew up in Central and Eastern Oregon and studied abroad in Paris, France while earning a Bachelor's degree in English from Linfield College. She also earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College before shifting her career and attending law school at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Becky practiced law at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP in Portland before moving to private practice in Battle Ground. She now serves as in-house General Counsel for Hurley Development in Vancouver.

Living in Battle Ground with her husband, Brant, and five stepchildren, Becky is a member of the Rotary Club of Greater Clark County and volunteers in public schools in Battle Ground. She likes practicing yoga, sporadically running long distances, and riding dual-sport motorcycles with her husband.

Why the Library:
"The library is a gathering place for the community, a safe space that fosters intellectual development, innovation, creativity, and the exploration and exchange of ideas. Libraries are gateways to possibility and I believe they are fundamental to the fabric of a healthy society."
