Barbara Selstad moved to Home Valley, WA in 1991. Born in Minneapolis, she attended St. Cloud State and the University of Minnesota and then had the rewarding adventures of marriage, motherhood, and moving around the country. (Barbara’s son and daughter, with five grandchildren, now live nearby in Hood River.) Parenting inspired interest in early childhood development, and Barbara worked at preschools in Minnesota, Illinois, and Texas. While working in the Rockford, Illinois YMCA, Barbara took up running and eventually completed 15 marathons and four triathlons. In 2008 she bicycled from San Diego to St. Augustine, Florida.

While living in Washington, Barbara has owned a painting and wallpapering business, followed by a partnership owning Log Cabin Lodging and managing an art gallery. She is currently enjoying a second marriage, and she volunteers her time with CASA, Friends of the Library, Toastmasters, and the Chamber of Commerce in Skamania County. She is proud to be a member of the FVRL Foundation Board.
